Leader of the Opposition, Vincent Tarzia has announced a reshaping of the Shadow Cabinet following the retirement of Matt Cowdrey OAM MP.
Mr Tarzia will now assume responsibility for the critical portfolio of Workforce and Population Growth. This move underscores his commitment to addressing long-term challenges such as labour shortages, economic resilience, and population sustainability.
The Hon Dennis Hood MLC has been promoted to take on the important Training and Skills portfolio, where his experience and energy will be key in tackling South Australia’s skills gap and preparing workers for the jobs of the future. He will also take on the Sport portfolio.
Mr Tarzia thanked Matt Cowdrey for his service to the Shadow Cabinet since 2022.
“We are injecting energy by drawing on deep experience to take the fight to an out-of-touch Labor Government,” Mr Tarzia said.
“This reshuffle also formalises the role of Hon Dennis Hood MLC within the Shadow Cabinet, following his significant contributions as Shadow Cabinet Secretary, and marks a natural next step in recognising his leadership and experience.
“Upon her return from maternity leave, the Hon Laura Henderson MLC will assume the responsibilities of Shadow Cabinet Secretary.
“Our team has a clear mission. We are here to hold the Government to account, drive real solutions to the challenges our state faces, and restore confidence in South Australia’s future.
“South Australians deserve a government-in-waiting that is unified, capable, and relentlessly focused on outcomes. That is exactly what this Shadow Cabinet represents.”
The strengthened team will continue to advance a forward-focused agenda as the Liberal Party prepares to contest the March 2026 State Election.
