Amanda Wilson has been confirmed as the Liberal Party’s candidate to contest the upcoming by-election in the seat of Black.
Ms Wilson, is known to many in the Southern suburbs and beaches for her service to the Holdfast Bay Council, particularly as its first female mayor.
“I am honoured to have been chosen as the Liberal’s candidate for the seat of Black,” said Ms Wilson.
“I believe there is no greater honour than to serve the community and I believe the people of Black deserve a strong voice in the Parliament.
Ms Wilson comes from a legal background, practicing as a lawyer at an Adelaide law firm before starting her family.
“The circumstances that have led me here are widely known. It is also widely known that our community has been supported and well represented by the Liberals, and that we only see Labor down here when they want our vote.
“I have a strong record on issues dear to the community and getting things done.
“I know from what I hear from the families I talk to everyday that they are hurting. Many people are really struggling to make ends meet, with high energy and food prices and a Labor Government that seems to be deaf to their needs.
“People want their represented members to carefully consider the things that are important to them, they want us to focus on the things that matter – energy prices, food prices and they need to know they can call an ambulance and not be stuck on a ramp in their hours of need.
“I believe the people of this community are keen for the Liberals to get on with the job of holding this Labor Government to account.
Leader of the Opposition, Vincent Tarzia said he believed Ms Wilson was an exceptional candidate who is community-focussed.
“She is well known in the seat of Black and she understands the community and genuinely understands the issues that matter to them.
State Director Alexander Hyde, said Ms Wilson had been selected very carefully as the people of Black deserve to be well represented in the SA Parliament.
“She is a woman of integrity, courage and conviction and we are thrilled that she has joined the Liberal team.”
