Leader calls for Premier to sack head of Delivery Unit

Monday 09 September, 2024

Opposition Leader, Vincent Tarzia has today called for Premier Malinauskas to sack the head of his Premier’s Delivery Unit, Rik Morris after revelations that monthly Ambulance ramping statistics have again rocketed beyond 5000 hours.

5,284 hours were lost in August.

5,539 were lost in July.

“Mr Morris told Parliament’s Budget and Finance Committee this week that the Government will not be able to fix ramping,” said Mr Tarzia.

“Mr Morris said that Labor didn’t commit to fix ramping and he suggested the best they expected was they might make ‘progress’.

“This clearly is a broken promise.

“South Australians have been deceived by Labor. Premier Malinauskas must act and get rid of Rik Morris or rename the unit he heads as the Non-Delivery Unit.

Hours lost to the ramp since Labor came to Government in March 2022 have passed 100,000 – many thousands more than were lost during the entire four year term of the previous Liberal Government.

“South Australians deserve more than ‘progress’ before the next election.

“Perhaps this Labor Government should concentrate on what it was elected to do – and fix ramping."

This ramping saga continues to cripple our health system.
