1 Year in Government
Our first year in Government has been a busy year. We have worked hard to deliver on creating more jobs, lowering costs for families and businesses, as well as bettering government services for our community.
In the first year of government, we have committed to major improvements for our roads and infrastructure, providing for safer roads. Investing $11.3 billion into projects has seen much needed funding delivered for the Paradise Interchange and Golden Grove Park ‘n’ Rides, upgrades to the Graves Street and Newton Road intersection, as well as a planning study to improve the Silkes Road and Gorge Road intersection. These improvements for our community will continue to create efficiency in our local traffic and public transport system.
We have also committed to making sure that residents in our area have access to upgraded facilities at their local schools and clubs. Achieving a record investment in Education this year, many of our schools have been granted funding to ensure that students are able to learn in a comfortable and secure environment, including $9.9 million of new capital works at Norwood Morialta High School. We have also invested into local sports and community centres such as the Campbelltown Soccer Club, Hectorville Sports and Community Club, and at the Max Amber Oval. These upgrades will provide for newer, better facilities to keep our community active and improve existing infrastructure.
We’ve also made strides to make sure to look after families and small business. The Government is improving our health services as well as lowering costs to make these services more accessible for our community. In addition to redeveloping the Modbury Hospital, we have worked towards discounting ESL bills for families and launched a free Meningococcal B immunisation program. Our Home Battery Scheme has also lowered the cost of energy whilst providing a more reliable source of power. Additionally, with the launch of Skilling SA for all South Australians and the abolishment of the Payroll Tax for small businesses, 20,800 new apprenticeships and traineeships opportunities have been created, and small businesses have been able to better grow. These investments have made these services and programs easily accessible.
Serving our community and Government this past year has been a privilege. I look forward to continuing to work hard and deliver the very best for our local area and am excited to see what the next year will bring.
