State Member for Hartley Vincent Tarzia has issued a word of caution to the State Government as pressure mounts on one local troublesome intersection.

ALDI has applied to build a Supermarket, bulky goods outlet and warehouse development at 176-180 Gorge Road Newton.

“This brings to light the troublesome Silkes Road and Gorge Road intersection that has been the site of too many accidents in recent times,” said Member for Hartley Vincent Tarzia.

“I have for some time now, along with the community, been lobbying the State Government for a solution to the intersection that has been named in the RAA’s Top 10 Risky Roads Intersections in South Australia.

“In 2011 a petition was tabled in State Parliament with over 1,000 signatures calling for a solution to the traffic woes at the intersection. To date, the State Government has yet to act.”

The Member for Hartley Vincent Tarzia continues his petitioning of the area as he lobbies the State Government for a solution.

“The Government have again ignored the people of Hartley, and disregarded what is a very serious and continuously problematic intersection,” said Mr Tarzia.

“I will continue to lobby the Government for safer roads and for a much needed solution to this intersection.”
